What is rehab? The technical definition of rehab is an intensive, medically supervised program to deal with substance abuse. In addition, rehab gives patients the tools to live a healthy, sober lifestyle for the rest of their lives.
The levels and types of addictions are varied. As a result, the types of rehab are varied to meet this need. There is no “one size fits all” treatment. You have to decide if rehab is the right choice for you, and then decide which of the types of rehab best fits your needs.
Path of Recovery
There are several different types of rehab. But all types follow along the same path to recovery. This path to recovery, no matter the method of rehab, is made of the same three steps.
The first step is Detox. This is the initial removal of drugs and other substances from the patient’s body. This needs to be done responsibly and safely. Many times, in the case of rehab from prescription substances, this can take some time. This is because the safest way to remove any drug from the system is to put the patient through a tapering schedule.
A tapering schedule is when the patient is slowly given less and less of a prescription drug over time. The length of the tapering schedule, and dose given, will vary from person to person. They are both dependent on how long the patient has been taking the drug, as well as the dose they were taking before starting the tapering schedule.
The next step along the path to recover is therapy. This step is less about the physical removal of the substance from the system, and more about changing the behavioral elements of addiction.
Therapy can take on many different forms. One of the most popular forms of therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This involves the patient meeting one-on-one with a therapist or counselor to talk about their addictive behaviors. These discussions are aimed at helping the patient to realize patters and triggers in their substance abuse.
Realizing these triggers and patterns helps patients to notice them before they go too far. It also helps patients to avoid situations that may bring on these triggers. In addition to helping patients become more self-aware, therapy is used to teach users healthier ways to cope. This increases their chances of staying sober for a lifetime, and decreases the chances relapse.
The final step along the path to recovery is resocialization. This is the process of helping rehab patients to function and stay sober once they return to normal everyday life.
The coping mechanisms learned in therapy are part of this process. Rehab facilities may also offer vocational training, as well as employment assistance, to help patients get back on their feet and begin living a healthy, productive life.
Types of Rehab
It’s important to talk with your family, and your medical professional, about your individual situation. Having these conversations can help you to determine the type of rehab treatment that is best-suited for your individual circumstances. It’s an important decision, and as such, talking it out with the people in your life is a very important step.
There are four major types of rehab offered here at Just Believe. The first we’ll cover is Medical Detox. This is typically the first step in the rehab process.
Medical Detox is the process of letting a substance process out of the patient’s system. Our qualified staff can help get you admitted into our private detox center, allowing you to focus on what’s important: your health.
Just Believe can even help you with specialty detox programs. We offer programs for detox from heroin, fentanyl, benzodiazepine, and methodone.
The next rehab option we have available is residential treatment. It’s our job at Just Believe to focus on a personal touch with our clients. This allows us to create a recovery solution tailored to each individual’s needs and situation.
In the case of residential treatment, our focus is on creating a functional environment that focuses more on long-term, continuing recovery. We go out of our way to ensure the comfort and success of our clients. Getting you back on the right track is what’s most important to us.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is something that we offer for more challenging rehab cases. Think of this program as a hybrid between inpatient and outpatient rehab.
The environment for this type of rehab is more structured than that of an outpatient setting. But our clients still have the ability to spend time at night with friends and family at night. During the day, however, our clients are in touch with medical professionals and staff that make sure they are receiving the support and treatment they deserve.
The advantages of our PHP program is that it places focus on the difficulties of rehab, but still offers stable care and support in a comfortable environment. Activities are offered so clients can enjoy themselves in a relaxed setting among peers going through the same situation. This creates a strong support network and makes the recovery process as comfortable as possible.
The fourth and final treatment option offered at Just Believe is Holistic Treatment. This is our newest treatment option offered, and we’re excited about it. Our holistic approach consists of treatments that have proven effective time and time again within a clinical setting.
These proven, evidence-based treatments consist of activities such as yoga and massage therapy. These activities are widely-prescribed components of any sound recovery program. They offer our patients relief from physical and emotional pain, as well as stress.
Each one of these treatment options alone can work wonders for an individual going through recovery. However, when they are combined, they create a rock solid foundation for our clients to build on as they travel down the path of recovery.
Other holistic options offered here at Just Believe are nutrition coaching, exercise routines, chiropractic services, amino acid therapy, auriculotherapy, and meditation.
Insurance providers may cover the cost of any one of these treatment options. It’s important to talk to your insurance carrier about what they will cover, and also what types of facilities are available in your area.
Even patients without insurance may be able to obtain loans or scholarships to help with the cost as well.
