PHP With or Without Housing: What Do I Need?

In This Article

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive substance abuse and addiction treatment format that often follows medical detox or a residential treatment program. It is characterized by a relatively long-term treatment period depending on the person’s needs.

Individuals in a partial hospitalization program (PHP) will spend their days at the center undergoing therapy, counseling, group support, and engaging in several other treatment methodologies and activities. Services rendered are comparable to those of our residential program—the main difference is that individuals are not housed in a clinical environment 24 hours a day and can stay in our community homes or return to a private residence in the evenings.

PHP is beneficial when a person has completed a more intensive form of treatment, such as a residential stay, or when the addiction is not severe enough to necessitate 24/7 residential care. Overall, PHP can provide a safe, comfortable, and pleasant environment for individuals in recovery who are not yet fully prepared to confront life’s challenges and temptations.

Partial Hospitalization Community Housing

Housing we offer to individuals in PHP includes the Men’s Beach House and Women’s Walton Pool House. Both homes are immersed in beautiful lush landscapes and include in-ground pool areas. The men’s house has a jacuzzi and has a dock on the Indian River, and the women’s house also includes a loft deck and basketball court, and just minutes from the Indian River.

Our community homes feature luxurious living rooms, spacious bedrooms, and comfortable areas to socialize both inside and out. We also provide transportation to 12-step meetings seven days a week.

Enrollment in a partial hospitalization program gives people the same structure and similar accountability as residential treatment while sleeping in a cozy home-like environment away from the center.

While individuals in our care at Just Believe Recovery go through a PHP program, they’ll be supported by other residents in achieving their goals. And since all other residents are also in recovery, they can provide the encouragement you need to get through the difficult days of recovery. Individuals in our community houses also begin to learn how to have fun without relying on drugs or alcohol.

The community housing component of partial hospitalization allows patients in the early stages of recovery to adapt back into the community. Our state-of-the-art homes encompass total comfort and peace so individuals can focus on what is truly important—their recovery and mental and physical well-being.

Overall, our homes offer a breath-taking view and luxury amenities intended to foster a sense of community and supportiveness and allow people to interact and grow in an understanding and caring community of substance abuse-free peers facing similar challenges.

PHP Without Community Housing

If you are planning to move back to a private residence after a detox or, for whatever reason, prefer not to take advantage of community housing, the PHP without housing program provides the same therapeutic program and activities without nearby accommodations in the evenings.

The PHP without housing option provides the perfect solution for professionals that still have a career, a family, and a local home and may require flexibility to attend to certain responsibilities that they otherwise could not in residential treatment. Participants in this program benefit from the same individualized daily therapy schedule and are included in all weekend activities.

Treatment for Comorbid Disorders

A comorbid or co-occurring disorder (also known as Dual Diagnosis) includes one or more mental health conditions that occur in conjunction with substance abuse or addiction. The mental illness may predate substance abuse or be instigated or exacerbated by it. Regardless of which came first, both problems require concurrent treatment.

Examples of mental health conditions that commonly co-occur with substance use disorders include the following:

  • Bipolar disorder
  • Major depressive disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety disorders, such as social anxiety or panic attacks
  • Personality disorders, such as borderline personality
  • Eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa

Just Believe Recovery is well-equipped to diagnose and treat co-occurring disorders related to mental and emotional health. Addressing mental health conditions in combination with addiction is almost always the preferred methodology providers use to achieve the best outcomes.
