Multi-Therapeutic Approach to Substance Abuse
At Just Believe Recovery Center we employ a variety of effective treatment options to help clients through recovery. We use a combination of traditional therapy, such as individual and group therapy, in conjunction with counseling and holistic treatments.
By offering a variety of treatment options, we are able to effectively approach addiction from several angles – thus, increasing the effectiveness of each individual component of treatment.
Our ancillary therapeutic options are as follows:
Core Processing Group Therapy
Group therapy addresses interpersonal, family, and social struggles, develop communication and relationship skills, and nurtures a shared identity. It promotes an allegiance of peers, a community of concern/understanding, and fosters appropriate attitudes and behaviors.
Assignments are given on a regular basis by a therapist. These assignments are intended to address specific needs developed in the treatment plan goals.
Therapeutic assignments help define alternative needs and behaviors, as well as the practice of new behaviors.
During individual therapy, clients engage one-on-one with a trained therapist in a non-judgmental and confidential environment.
During therapy, clients are encouraged to explore feelings, beliefs, and behaviors to better understand themselves. They will also work through difficult, negative memories and/or experiences.
These activities help identify an alternative way to express feelings, as well as develop healthy leisure and relaxation skills. These activities assist in memory recall, goal-directed thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Clients are encouraged to identify leisure activities that they will continue as a means of healthy living in the community after their discharge from treatment. Two options include art therapy and music therapy.
This is a form of therapeutic intervention designed to teach clients about their addiction and mental health disorders, and help them to better manage related symptoms, behaviors, and consequences. The focus is often on a specific topic that affects the clients who participate.
The group is facilitated by mental health professional or addictions specialist. Use of videos and other lecture materials enhance the experience for clients and serves to improve self-awareness.
It also increases the client’s ability to (1) identify opportunities for improvement or growth, (2) to identify positive resources in treatment and in the community,(3) better understand both addiction and recovery, and (4) build confidence to better their lives and make good choices during recovery.
The Multi-Therapeutic Approach Is Important for a Long-Term Recovery
These therapeutic techniques serve to provide support, education, healthy activities, and behavioral enhancement. Together, these therapies enhance the effects of one another, making the overall treatment plan exponentially more effective than the sum of its parts.
By using a comprehensive approach, clients are better able to cope with cravings, addiction triggers, mental health issues, and general life stress upon discharge into the community.
