The Biosound Healing System – A Holistic Treatment To Reduce Cravings, Anxiety, And Aid In Recovery
Our patient care philosophy at Just Believe Recovery is to provide treatment using a comprehensive and holistic approach. For that reason, we now offer Bio Bed therapy – a technology that helps patients achieve comfort, relaxation, relief from pain, and much-needed sleep as they undergo detox and enter the recovery process.
What Are Bio Beds?
Bio beds combine the healing properties of magnets and amethyst crystals to treat unpleasant and distressing conditions such as depression and anxiety, inflammation, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and chronic pain.
Biosound Healing System
The Biosound Healing System uses Heart-Rate Variability Biofeedback (HRVB) with visual and auditory presentations that combine multiple interventions, including binaural beats, guided imagery, sound frequency massage, and music therapy.
The treatment process consists of the use of binaural beats to trigger a meditative state, low vibrations to create a relaxation response, the synchronization of heartbeat patterns with the body, and positive affirmations to promote mindfulness.
In HRVB, patients are trained to slow their breathing and heart rate using a measurement known as heart-rate variability (HRV) that assesses the time between heartbeats. HRVB has been found to decrease psychological conditions such as anxiety and depression.
Indeed, it is believed that deep breathing may affect areas in the brain linked to emotional regulation and mood, and also contributes to relief from stressful psychological symptoms.
Evidence supports the use of HRVB to treat depression and anxiety, symptoms of PTSD, sleep disturbances, fibromyalgia and chronic muscle pain, gastrointestinal disorders, asthma, and COPD.
Research has shown that HRVB used in combination with cognitive-behavioral therapy and other therapeutic interventions improve treatment and recovery outcomes.
HRVB for Substance Abuse
Even one session on the Biobed can reduce cravings for substances and increase decision-making abilities and impulse control. Evidence supports the use of HRVB for immediate results and also long-term changes in anxiety levels.
A lower HRV (shorter time between heart eats) has been linked to alcohol cravings in substance abuse treatment outpatients and has also been associated with a reduced ability to resist cravings, less impulse control, and poor decision-making.
On the other hand, evidence has revealed an association between a higher HRV and increased executive functioning (such as planning, goal-setting, inhibition, etc.) and cognitive abilities. In fact, Just a single session of HRVB has been shown to decrease stress response and increase relaxed alertness when participants were asked to complete difficult tasks.
In summary, HRVB therapy implementation in inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities has been shown to reduce cravings and relieve anxiety and depression for sustainable periods of time. This alternative treatment helps patients to remain more comfortable, motivated and focused, benefits which translate to better results following detox and into recovery.
