Amanda Bynes Says She’s Clean And Sober, Wants To Return To Acting

Actress Amanda Bynes, 31, recently accounted that she’s three years sober and is ready to begin acting again. In her interview in four years, Bynes told Diana Madison at Hollyscoop:

“I hike, I go spinning — take spinning classes — and I feed the homeless.”

“I do miss acting, and I actually have something surprising to tell you, I’m going to start acting again. I want to do TV, maybe a few guest spots on some shows that I’m a fan of and maybe another TV show that I’m the star of it.”

A History Of Legal Troubles

This occurred after previously facing two hit-and–run charges, two DUI arrests, mental health problems, and other issues. Her legal troubles were extensive and confusing, but they went something like this:

In early 2012, she was arrested and charged with a DUI after side-swiping a police car. Later than fall, she was charged with two hits and run accidents in West Hollywood – one in April and another in August. Both hit-and-run charges were later dismissed that December following a settlement with the victims.

In May 2013, she was arrested yet again in her Manhattan home for marijuana possession, attempting to tamper with evidence, and reckless endangerment. Apparently, the actress had been seen throwing a bong from the window of her apartment, although Bynes claimed the item was merely a vase.

After this incident, Bynes underwent a psychiatric evaluation. But in July of 2013, Bynes was detained in front of a house in Thousand Oaks where she reported started a fire in the driveway. She was then hospitalized under a 72-hour evaluation hold for mental health issues.

In February 2014, the DUI charge was dropped, and Bynes was convicted of reckless driving and sentenced to 3 years probation as part of a plea deal. Her license was restored two months later. The alleged bong-throwing incident was dismissed in June 2014.

Last year, Bynes noted on Twitter than she was enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising:

“I am really loving school and I feel that I am learning a lot. I enjoy all of my classes and my teachers are excellent.”

In the Hollyscoop interviews, she stated that she’s still taking classes:

“I make patterns and I want to start a clothing line in the future.”

The actress previously starred on two sitcoms, including “The Amanda Show” which ran from 1999 to 2002, and “What I Like About You” which ran from 2002 to 20016. She also starred in several films, including “What a Girl Wants” (2003), “She’s the Man” (2006), “Hairspray” (2007), and “Sydney White: (2007).

Amanda Bynes was last seen acting alongside Emma Stone in the 2010 film “Easy A.”
